Sur Sudha
Sur Sudha is an instrumental band from Kathmandu, Nepal, playing Eastern classical music. The group is lead by Surendra Shrestha on tabla, with Prem Rana Autari on flute (Basuri) and Satendra Bir Singh Tuladhar on sitar. They have been active since 1987 and have performed over 2,000 concerts worldwide. They were Nepal's Goodwill Tourism Ambassadors in 2011.
Surendra Shrestha began playing the tabla at the age of nine and began his professional career in 1985. He formed Sur Sudha in 1987.
Prem Rana Autai studied flute for six years in India under the guidance of Hariprasad Chaurasia. He began to play professionally at the age of 15. Aside from his work with Sur Sudha, he played for nine years at Radio Nepal and for a decade at the Royal Nepal Academy.
Satendra Bir Singh Tuladhar learned sitar from his father, beginning at the age of six, and has been a teacher of the instrument since the age of thirteen. He received his master Degree (Sangeet Praveen) for the sitar in 1996. Prior to joining Sur Sudha in 2002, he toured internationally with his father.
